Location:  West-central Arizona northwest of Wickenburg.

Access:  From U.S. Highway 93 at milepost 140 + .7 (58 miles northwest of Wickenburg, 17 miles southeast of Wickieup), turn southwest onto a  paved access road and proceed 1.2 miles; turn north (right) into the campground.

Facilities:  28 campsites, including several park n’ walk units; sites are medium to large, tolerably level, with nominal to very good separation; parking pads are sandy gravel, medium to long pull-thoughs, pull-offs and straight-ins; adequate space for large tents on a sandy surface; about half the sites have ramadas (sun shelters) and concrete pads for table areas; barbecue grills; b-y-o firewood; water at several faucets;’ restrooms; holding tank disposal station; campground host in winter; gravel driveways gas and camper supplies may be available at a highway stop, 7 miles southeast; adequate + supplies and services are available in Kingman and Wickenburg.

Activities & Attractions:  Rock hounding; backcountry trails.

Natural Features:  Located in Burro Creek Canyon on slightly sloping terrain just above Burro Creek; a few small hardwoods shade/shelter; bordered by high, desert mountains; wild burros roam the region; elevation 2200′.

Camp Notes:  Even in midsummer, this desert camp could be a reasonably pleasant spot to spend some time, particularly if the weather was a bit cloudy and your ensemble consisted of a well ventilated camper or tent.  The BLM doesn’t have a large quantity of standard campgrounds in its inventory, buy those in the southwest, like this one, generally are pretty good.
